Excellent book
By Jeremy
If you enjoyed, as I did, "Champion Shooting: Guaranteed Results In 15 Minuets A Day" you will love this book. There are four main things that, I find, makes this book superior to the last. First: Getting rid of the tiered goal times. As Ben mentions in this book, I found myself settling for being able to hit the "Intermediate" goal times that are listed in "Champion Shooting." By doing away with these in "Dry-Fire Training: For the Practical Shooter" I find my self being challenged all over again. Trying to meet the new goal times has forced me to improve. I have already made improvements on several of the drills. Second: I enjoy that it takes the same format as his live-fire training guid "Skills and Drills." This makes coordinating a dry-fire and live-fire training schedule much easier. Third: The micro drills. For example, I have had problems in the past with having a really "smooth" reload (I say smooth because it would not be accurate to say that I bobble them. It is more akin to having problems with the mag catching ever-so-slightly on the mag well.) Doing the micro reloading drills, in this book, have helped me to smooth out my reloads, which has made me faster with less effort. Lastly: As another reviewer has mentioned, I like the sample training plans. I think a lot of people, myself included, do not know where to start when it comes to training. Having these routines will help to give you goals to meet and maintain.
All this being said, Ben's training materials work. I found his material when I was a Production B class shooter, this was around October of 2013. By integrating all of Ben's material, "Champion Shooting," "Skills and Drills" and the DVD "Training to Win," into my practice routine I was able to make Master class in Production by March of 2014. I plan to keep working with all of his material in the quest to reach Grand Master in Production.
I would recommend this book for anyone who desires to get better, whether you are D class, Master or even GM. I believe the drills in this book will help you to achieve your shooting goals.

The latest masterpiece from Ben Stoeger
By The Gump
I received Dry-Fire Training from Ben about 5 weeks ago and even though I own all of his previous books and the "Training to Win" DVD, I knew that this was going to be something special even at first glance. The importance of dry-fire training is underestimated in my opinion but Ben shows how it proves to be invaluable to those who wish to shoot better and take their game to the next level. One may think that since you have his previous dry-fire books or others that there is no need for another for fear of monotony but that is certainly not the case with his latest release. Ben took it a step further and raised the bar.
One great feature that was new was he broke down certain drill into categories as defined below:
1) Learning Drills = "LD"
2) Marksmanship Training = "MK"
3) Core USPSA Skills = "CR"
4) Field Course Skills = "FC"
5) Short Course Skills = "SC"
Each drill in Dry-Fire Training compliments the corresponding drill sections to coincide with the goal the shooter is striving to achieve. This allows you to focus on one set of drills at one time or to break them down to a few different drills from each section covering all aspects. This breakdown of the drills I feel gives the reader a better understanding and guidance on recognizing their strengths and weaknesses. Knowing the focal points one needs to address in their dry-fire training is imperative to taking the appropriate steps to improve.
Another great part of the book is the sample training plans Ben gives the readers. Many shooters may dry-fire and do it right but lack the structure to do it as effective and efficiently as possible. Using Ben's plans gives one just that. He gives sample plans for shooters in the prospective levels:
1) New Shooter
2) Accurate, but Slow
3) Fast, but Inaccurate
4) Stuck in B Class for Two Years
5) Hardcore Training Plan
Regardless of your skill level, I am confident you will fit in one of these categories and you can now have a 4-week training cycle for your dry-fire training and will get the most out of the time you spend practicing.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve. Their is so much more to Dry-Fire Training than what's in this review and you will have to get the book to see the rest of this secret recipe for success. Ben gives the reader a goal and purpose to dry-fire training. He gives you the par times that one should strive to hit consistently, the knowledge and understanding behind each drill, and the motivation to train HARD. If you are a new shooter wanting to start off training correctly, stuck in C class and can't make the jump higher, or you're a Master who wants to become a part of the upper echelon of the sport, Dry-Fire Training will help you achieve your goals if you are willing to devote your time and effort into practicing and training hard.

Great Training Tool
By JP
Got this book a couple weeks ago from the author while taking a class in Idaho. The drills are great but for me the best part is the training schedule and the included commentary.
I have struggled with poor dry-fire discipline for years mostly due to boredom. I would find myself doing the same few drills a few times then quitting because I did not really have any idea what to do next, with the included schedule and the breakdown of the drills into different training sets I can work on the areas of my game that need the most improvement.
The book lays out every area of the required skills to excel at USPSA shooting and breaks the dry-fire routines needed into small, manageable chapters. If you need to improve your marksmanship then follow the drills in that chapter. Need to improve your movement skills? There is a set of drills laid out for that.
It doesn't get any easier, all you have to do is put in the time to improve your action shooting skill set.
