and give you a better understanding of the instrument

For anyone new to the EWI USB I highly suggest that you read this book, It goes into more detail than any book I have found for the beginning player. Amen. goes into the control system, and give you a better understanding of the instrument. How to set it up to your preference, breath control, fingering, and a history of wind instrument. Also a description of Aria software, which you will need to set up the instrument. I had question about the instrument and posted them on his Amazon page, and he answered me right away. Thank for a Great book Amen. I guess all I have to do now is practice.

Excellent help to configure

I have been playing an alto recorder for about two years and decided to purchase an Akai USB. On first playing the instrument I found it to be extremely awkward with a very long latency and high wind pressures and volumes to play a note. the accompanying Akai and Garritan manuals to be singularly unhelpful. Mr. Zwa's book is very clearly written and most helpful in configuring and playing the EW USB. I highly recommend it.

Excellent Beginner Resource

I have played the bassoon for years, but I am new to the EWI USB. This book covers the basics in great detail. The author is an engineer and writes with the precision of an engineer, which is most admirable In a technology-intensive area such as this. It turns out that the EWI USB is just one part of a complex system that, taken together, comprises a musical instrument. So mastering the "instrument" means learning a great deal about many subjects. This is just the way it is. This book focuses on one component, the EWI itself, specifically the EWI USB model, which is the one I bought. But it does provide clear information about what the other components are and useful pointers to supplementary material about them. I read this after spending hours a day for about a week "wood shedding" with the EWI USB. I learned a lot, and I am very grateful to the author for his sharing. It will serve me both as a reader and a reference. The major missing piece is that the author covers all the fingering modes of the EWI that emulate actual instruments, but omits the native EWI mode. It seems to me that the EWI mode is the most flexible and useful, so I would have appreciated his including that, because I am sure he could have shed a lot of light on the subject.
